Edited Grid

graphite in encaustic, 30"x24"

December 2012

I love grids. They can be the size of cities, they can keep Tuesday's list from jumping ship to Wednesday, they are always useful. The starting point here was a grid of increasing complexity. But I didn't need complexity, density works better. I didn't even need the grid. Lines divide the space just as well.

The build of this piece is similarly minimalist. With heat and pressure, I transferred the graphite drawings from vellum directly into the wax, instead of sinking in the entire piece of vellum which is the more usual practice.
