About this time of year, I've had enough dark, and will seek out and leap for joy at any sign that change is coming. I start to obsessively check astronomical data to confirm that sunset will be a whole 10 minutes later in a few days! This has happened for the entire time I've lived in the Northwest.
I am currently working on a 30x30 steel wire and encaustic piece which puts form to our lengthening days. It might even save a few sunset/sunrise time page refreshes.

All colors have baggage, but pink gets its own caboose. It is Hello Kitty, it is Barbie, it is pink ponies, it might even be Pepto-Bismol. In painting, I see it lining clouds, warming up nudes, and doing other odd jobs around the place, but hardly ever as the star of its own show. This is a pity as it's beautiful. It's a color of new, of awake, of spring, of optimism.
I am working on a vertical color sequence—my very own ode to pink.
